Although pouring
rain led the event to be nicknamed the “wet coat ceremony,”
the students, faculty, and family members who gathered to
celebrate the Fifth-Annual White Coat Ceremony didn’t
let the bad weather dampen their spirits. Held on Saturday,
October 27, the event honored approximately 230 students in
USP’s Robert C. “Bobby” Morgan Arena who
are entering their first professional year of the PharmD program.
“The White Coat Ceremony celebrates our third-year
students’ entry into the professional years of the pharmacy
curriculum, but also serves as a reminder to the students
and faculty alike of the responsibilities and obligations
of a pharmacist,” Dean Russell J. DiGate, PhD, told
the audience. “Being a pharmacist is not simply about
being a professional, it’s about being a professional
healthcare provider who always puts the needs of the patient
above any other.”
