Education:

B.S., pharmacy, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science

Expertise:

Community pharmacy practice, patient prescription counseling, prescription compounding, drug treatment of viral hepatitis, drug treatment of Gastro intestinal disorders.

Background:

Along with his responsibilities at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Dr. Sorrentino is also a part-time pharmacist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he spent twenty years as an assistant director for outpatient pharmacy services and as manager of Jefferson Apothecary. Some of his primary duties included direction of day-to-day operations, prescription processing, clinical pharmacy services and services to three dialysis centers, two nursing homes and 12 outpatient pschiatric facilities. Prior to that, he was the night pharmacist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sorrentino was the 1997 recipient of the Distinguished Pharmacist Award of the PARD, an Association of Independent Pharmacy Owners. He is a past president and board chairman of the Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He is a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee of HMA Health Plan, an HMO serving Medicaid patients in Philadelphia, Pa.
