In
the 15 years Dr. Murphy has been at University of the
Sciences in Philadelphia as a full-time faculty member,
she has been recognized for her teaching abilities. She
has received the Faculty Special Recognition Award, the
Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching,
Alpha Lambda Delata Award for Outstanding Freshman Professor
and the Alpha Chi Award for Outstanding Science Professor.
She teaches courses in mammalian anatomy and physiology,
biology, physiology and anatomy and histology.

Much
of the research she has conducted throughout the years
has focused on ras genes. She has written publications
on ras genes, cell biology and cancer. In 1988
she co-wrote a chapter in Growth Factors, Tumor Promoters
and Cancer Genes titled "Cellular signal transduction
and reversal of malignancy. She is a member of several
professional scientific associations, including the American
Society for Cell Biology, American Association for the
Advancement of Science and the Association for Women in
Science.

Dr.
Murphy serves as the chair of the Pre-Professional Advisory
Committee and counsels students intending to enter the
medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions
programs. She is active in professional advising organizations,
including the National Association of Advisors for the
Health Profession. She is the current president-elect
of the Northeast Association of Advisors for the Health
Professions.
