Background:
-
Dr.
Aurora has continuously made an effort to popularize science
among the general public. He has made presentations on
numerous topics, including applications of physics in
physical therapy, applications of physics skills in understanding
defects in solids, and integration of computers in physics
education. In his academia career, Dr. Aurora has taught
courses in physics, astronomy, sound/vibration, calculus,
physical science, electricity/magnetism and physics for
health-care science majors. He developed four courses
at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia: medical
physics, introductory biophysics, descriptive astronomy
and physics of music.
He
has been a reviewer for Pictorial Mathematics for Elementary
School and for the Institute of Physics. Through his
research, he designed and developed a portable instrument
to measure the response time of patients with brain injury.
Dr. Aurora was honored for his dedication to his work
through a 1989-90 Faculty Special Recognition Award for
Distinguished Teaching. He is a member of several organizations,
including the Industrial & Applied Physics Speaks
List, American Physical Society, and the local chapter
