Professor Receives Administrative Fellowship
University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) recently announced that
Dr. Shanaz Tejani-Butt has been named the recipient of the
2003-04 USP Administrative Fellowship. The Fellowship is designed
to introduce a faculty member to all aspects of administration
at the University, with special emphasis on how the different
divisions work together to provide overall leadership.
This
experience will be an opportunity for Dr. Tejani-Butt, professor
of pharmacology and toxicology at USP, to broaden her experiences
both administratively and professionally. Her responsibilities
will include attending administrative meetings, interacting
with various departments across the University, developing
a major project of interest to her, and participating in ongoing
administrative activities.
“I
am excited with the prospects of this fellowship,” says
Dr. Tejani-Butt, “because it will not only provide a
better understanding and appreciation of the role of administrative
organization at USP, but will also challenge my own potential
for advancement in academic administration in the future.”
University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia is a private, coeducational
institution founded in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy,
the first college of pharmacy in North America. USP specializes
in educating students for rewarding careers through its undergraduate,
graduate and doctoral degree programs in the health and related
sciences.
