University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Names New Director of Writing Center

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) recently named Dr. Justin Everett as the new director of USP’s Writing Center. Dr. Everett brings to the position considerable experience in teaching rhetoric to native and non-native speakers both in the classroom and in one-on-one tutorials. He has instructed courses at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Tulsa Community College, where he was also the coordinator of the writing center. He received a B.A. in English at Oklahoma State University and an M.A. in English and Ph.D. in English education at the University of Oklahoma.

The Writing Center provides students, faculty and staff with assistance in all writing tasks. Students may get help with writing assignments for any class. The Writing Center also provides English as a Second Language (ESL) assistance to non-native English speaking students in writing, grammar, pronunciation and speaking. Computers are available for use with writing projects, and help with resumes and applications is also available. Tutoring sessions are scheduled by appointment, but drop-ins are also welcome. The Center is staffed by faculty and peer tutors.

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia is a private, coeducational institution founded in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the first college of pharmacy in North America. USP specializes in educating students for rewarding careers through its professional and pre-professional degrees in health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, and arts and sciences.
