University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia Names New Director of Writing
Center
University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) recently named Dr. Justin
Everett as the new director of USP’s Writing Center.
Dr. Everett brings to the position considerable experience
in teaching rhetoric to native and non-native speakers both
in the classroom and in one-on-one tutorials. He has instructed
courses at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central
Oklahoma, and Tulsa Community College, where he was also the
coordinator of the writing center. He received a B.A. in English
at Oklahoma State University and an M.A. in English and Ph.D.
in English education at the University of Oklahoma.
The
Writing Center provides students, faculty and staff with assistance
in all writing tasks. Students may get help with writing assignments
for any class. The Writing Center also provides English as
a Second Language (ESL) assistance to non-native English speaking
students in writing, grammar, pronunciation and speaking.
Computers are available for use with writing projects, and
help with resumes and applications is also available. Tutoring
sessions are scheduled by appointment, but drop-ins are also
welcome. The Center is staffed by faculty and peer tutors.
University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia is a private, coeducational
institution founded in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy,
the first college of pharmacy in North America. USP specializes
in educating students for rewarding careers through its professional
and pre-professional degrees in health sciences, pharmaceutical
