UNIVERSITY
OF THE SCIENCES IN PHILADELPHIA PRESENTS FACULTY SERVICE AWARDS
University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia annually presents service
awards to faculty who have demonstrated outstanding work during
the academic year.
Six members of USP's faculty were recognized for their achievements
and contributions at
USP's Annual Faculty Luncheon.
Advisor
of the Year Award
The
award is presented to an individual, nominated by students,
who recognizes advising students is one of the most important
activities faculty members assume responsibility for outside
the classroom.

Faculty Special
Recognition Award
Candidates for the
award are those ranked "outstanding" (teaching,
scholarly activity, service) in the Annual Faculty Performance
Evaluation, conducted by the corresponding academic department
chairs. Finalists
are selected by a committee composed of department chairs.

Ralph Turner, director of the health psychology program
Homillier
Award for Teaching Excellence
The award was established to address a
concern that teaching is under recognized and undervalued.
Candidates for this award are nominated by faculty peers,
and the finalist is selected by a committee composed entirely
of faculty.
- Dr.
Suzanne Murphy, professor
of biology
Patricia
Leahy Award
The award was established
to support the recognition of important innovations in teaching,
and honors the memory of Patricia Leahy, a faculty member
in the Department of Physical Therapy, who was a leading advocate
of creativity and innovation in teaching.
The recipients are selected by former winners of the
award.
