University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Names New Member of The Board of Trustees

Alan J. Milbauer of Wilmington, Del., has recently been elected to serve as a member of University of the Sciences in Philadelphia’s Board of Trustees. The responsibilities of the 23-member Board include approving the University’s strategic plans and insuring their consistency with the institution’s missions and goals. In addition to meeting four times a year, members of the Board of Trustees provide oversight and guidance to the administration in all areas of University operations and participate in various ad hoc committees at the University to their service on the various Board committees.

Milbauer is vice president of public affairs for AstraZeneca. His responsibilities include federal and state government affairs, corporate media relations, public relations and ally development, corporate and community affairs and public policy. Previously, he was vice president of external affairs for Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. He joined Zeneca (then Atlas Chemcials, later ICI Americas) in 1969. In 1976, he was appointed director of regulatory affairs and became vice president of planning in 1985 and vice president of marketing in 1991.

Milbauer received degrees in pharmacy and law at the University of Connecticut in 1965 and 1968, respectively. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar and is licensed to practice pharmacy in Connecticut and Maryland.
