USP's Student Government Association Names its Student Of The Year

The Student Government Association of University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) has named Maura Geary of Pittsburgh, Pa. (15227), its 1999-2000 Student of the Year. Geary, a fourth-year physical therapy student and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Geary, is the student government vice president of activities.

In her role in student government, Geary has organized events that have aroused the interest of all students, tripling attendance from previous years. She has introduced to the campus many different entertainers, from singers to comedians to improvisational artists. Along with her many duties in student government, she is a member of the Agape Christian Fellowship and USP’s Physical Therapy Club, and she also instructs an aerobics class three times a week. Her talents and remarkable efforts are a testament to her commitment to USP and its students.

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia is a private, coeducational institution founded in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the first college of pharmacy in North America. USP specializes in educating students for rewarding health and science careers through its ten bachelor's, ten master's and four doctoral degree programs in the health and related sciences.
