Authorization to Use Radioactive Materials
An authorized user is a person whose training and experience have been reviewed and approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The authorized user is named on the license and uses or directly supervises the use of licensed radioactive material.
The authorized user's primary responsibility is to ensure that radioactive materials used in his or her particular laboratory or area are used safely and according to regulatory requirements.
To become an authorized user on our radioactive materials license, submit in writing:
The types and quantities of radionuclides
to be used at the University of the Sciences in
Philadelphia.
The types and quantities of radionuclides with which you have had previous experience.
In what capacity these radionuclides were used.
The training and education that you received on radionuclide use.
Institutions or facilities at which these materials were used.
The duration that you worked with these materials.
