OSHA regulations require that anyone working at the University who is working with hazardous substances (i.e., chemicals, biologicals, radioactive materials) must receive annual training. Everyone working at the University must receive annual Fire Safety Training and must attend a New Employee Orientation session. Faculty advisors, supervisors and managers are responsible for the health, safety, and training of employees and students engaged in activities under their supervision. There are classroom training sessions and safety discussion guides available on various topics to help comply with this training requirement. There are other OSHA, Federal, State and City Regulations that require training on additional hazards. (i.e., electrical hazards, lock-out/tag-out, equipment and tools, wearing respirators, personal protective equipment, asbestos awareness, safe lifting etc.) Please contact the Safety Department if you need information on any safety topic. (Above examples are not all inclusive)
At times, a safety discussion guide may be completed in lieu of attending an available classroom training session. (See the below list of available safety discussion guides) Please contact us if additional safety discussion guides are needed.
