Adam DeSousa, a sixth year
Physical Therapy student, participated in a pro bono Physical Therapy Clinic. "The experience Adam had with clinicians was invaluable but very much what he expected," according to Mike Johnson, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy. "It was the unexpected personal experience that really affected him. The clinic has given students opportunities to coordinate counseling and learn to become part of a healthcare team. They encounter cultural differences and learn how to overcome them." The clinic is a cooperative effort between USP and the Mercy Health System. "Students are learning the community health perspective and what it feels like to be part of healthcare for the sake of just helping people. We're making a difference."
