Serving the Community
Pavan Tankha, PH/TX '01
Because of the high percentage of USP students accepted into medical school-and the strong scientific focus- Pavan Tankha passed up several larger universities to attend USP. He feels that it wasn't just USP's academic quality that prepared him for the MCATs-and for graduate school. According to Pavan, experience was just as valuable a teacher. "Working as a Bridging the Gaps intern, another medical student and I set up a summer day camp in a medically underserved public housing complex." It opened his eyes to the differences between medicine practiced at a hospital and in public community health settings. Unusual opportunities to learn outside the classroom aren't the exception at USP. They're the norm.
