An Experiential Education That Develops Leaders
Ed Mercadante, P'79
Since Ed graduated, he's led multimillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions, helped grow franchise-based pharmacies, and created start-up ventures that have grown to the $100 million level. Most recently, he became the chairman and CEO of a $200 million-plus specialty pharmacy and medical specialty product provider. Ed vividly remembers his educational experience at USP. "It develops people and individuals as opposed to just teaching them." Ed feels the experiential environment at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy-including rotations, internships, and working in recitation sessions-gives students an incredible hands-on background. "USP is much like any prestigious university. It teaches people how to think. How to develop from within."
