Taking the Next Leap
Riolama Lorenzo, HS'06
When she was not expressing herself in one of the labs at USP, Riolama Lorenz, a principal dancer for the Pennsylvania Ballet, was expressing herself on the stage. "It's all about the numbers and the shapes that we do. It is very mathematical," Riolama said of how ballet related to her course work. USP caught her attention because of its science concentration and the next step she wants to take: a physical therapy program. Originally from Havana, Cuba, Riolama came to the USA in 1980 on the Mariel Boat Lift. She is now looking to make the next leap in her career. "After I retire from dance, I would love to work with dancers or athletes in physical therapy." Photo: Paul Kolnik; Pennsylvania Ballet's Riolama Lorenzo and Meredith Rainey in Le Travail.
