Dr. Alison Mostrom and Dana Massuto
Dana Massuto,
Biology, has worked with Alison Mostrom, Associate Professor of Biology and Animal Behaviorist since 2002, researching male bird songs. In addition to their work at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum pictured here, Dana says, "We've gone to Hawk Mountain in the Pocono region during the summer months to record the songs of the male Ovenbirds. We analyze the data to find distinctiveness." Dana believes her experience at USP has "helped me understand how research works." Dr. Mostrom says, "USP is unique in that students can start conducting research as early as their sophomore year." That experience, Dana believes, has given her the confidence she needs to make that first step into the real world of science.
