A Poet Who's a Student of Science

Albert Palmares, Humanities & Science, Medical Technology
He organized an event on campus for Multicultural Week-Spoken Diversity: The Art of Spoken Word Poetry. Off campus, Albert has also been invited to write and comment on poetry in a column for the Pinoy Chronicle, a newspaper for the U.S. Philippine community. You'd never guess that Albert's ultimate goal is medical school. The reason for a second major in the Humanities? He feels there's an interconnectedness, "In a sonnet, the fourteen lines are equivalent to fourteen breaths-the normal range of a breathing cycle. Poetry's pentameter seems to spring from the most basic rhythm of life." It's a balance Albert values in his USP educational experience and his life.
