Dr. Rosenthal has 25 years of experience in sales and marketing for a number of the top companies in the healthcare industry. He researches marketing and branding institutions of higher education and is also developing a computer simulation training program to assist healthcare companies train their sales managers.
Bruce B. Rosenthal, MBA

Mr. Rosenthal holds an MBA from Rutgers University and a BFA from Syracuse University, and is pursuing a doctorate from USP. He has 30 years experience as a businessman and a teacher. Mr. Rosenthal has co-written several research articles for peer-reviewed journals as well as articles on the Japanese pharmaceutical industry and leadership issues for pharmaceutical-oriented journals. He also is developing relationships between USP and a Japanese university, as well as Japanese healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations so that USP students can have more opportunities to study the world’s second largest pharmaceutical market.

Mr. Ashton has nearly 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including more than a dozen years in positions of increasing importance at Amgen, the world’s leading biotech company. His areas of expertise include government affairs, sales, marketing and learner-centered methods of teaching. Mr. Ashton serves on the boards of the National Osteoporosis Society, the Duke University Fuqua School of Business Healthcare Advisory Board, the National Pharmaceutical Council and Constella Healthcare.
Melanie B. Oates, PhD, MBA, RN

Dr. Oates has 15 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in a variety of positions, and spent five years experience as a registered nurse, working with psychiatric patients and cardiac ICU patients. As a psychiatric nurse, she conducted one-on-one therapy sessions and facilitated group psychotherapy. Her research centers on the psychology of decision making in healthcare purchasing.
Robert J. Votta, MBA

Mr. Votta earned his MBA in management from Saint Joseph’s University and is currently a PhD candidate in health policy administration at USP. Prior to joining the faculty, he worked for more than 12 years in the insurance industry. Mr. Votta served as a distance learning consultant for Pierce College and has 10 years experience as a distance learning professor in business law and Management; he also previously was an adjunct professor at numerous other schools. He researches, health policy administration and legislation, pharmaceutical advertising and corporate social responsibility.
