Andrew M. Peterson, PharmD, PhD, has been named interim dean for Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Previously, Dr. Peterson served five years as chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice/Pharmacy Administration in the University’s Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, where he is an associate professor of clinical pharmacy.
Dr Peterson has concentrated his years of research in pharmacy management, managed care
pharmacy, pharmaceutical care, and medication compliance. He recently received his PhD in health policy from the University in May 2009. Before joining University of the Sciences in 1996, he was an assistant director of pharmacy and clinical services at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Prior to that, he was an associate director of pharmacy, drug information, and clinical services at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy at University of the Sciences prepares undergraduate and graduate students to make an impact on the critical healthcare needs of society, and to compete in the evolving healthcare arena where business, policy, and public needs intersect. Opportunities include an MBA in pharmaceutical and healthcare business, an MS and PhD in health policy, master in public health (MPH), MS in biomedical writing, or BS in pharmaceutical and healthcare business, as well as certificate programs in pharmaceutical business, medical marketing, or regulatory writing.
In 2003, Dr. Peterson earned the Homiller Award for Excellence in Teaching and in 2005, the Patricia Leahy Award for Learning Innovation. Dr. Peterson, who is a native of Jersey City, N.J., currently resides in Cherry Hill,
N.J.
