Instructions for Virus Scan

Use the following instructions to install Cisco Clean Access Agent,  Anti Virus Software and Windows Updates

Anti-Virus Download & Update

If your anti-virus is not up to date Clean Access will direct you to a web site that will allow you to install and update your anti-virus software.

Important Note: If you are using Norton anti-virus and you wish to use McAfee (provided free to you by the University), you will need to uninstall Norton anti-virus from your machine.

The following are instructions for installing McAfee through Cisco Clean Access only. The link does not work from the web site.

Step 1:

Click on McAfee Anti-Virus link

Step 2:

A pop-up screen will appear click “RUN”

Step 3:

Another pop-up screen will appear click “RUN”

McAfee V8 will begin to download on your machine

Step 4:

A pop-up window will appear click “NEXT”

Step 5:

Accept the EULA and click “OK”, to start the download

Step 6:

Select “Typical” and click “NEXT”

Step 7:

Click “INSTALL”, McAfee will begin installing on your machine

Step 8:

After the Install make sure that “Update Now” and “Run On-Demand Scan” are checked and then click finish.

Step 9:

A pop-up window will appear indicating that the install is complete, click “OK”

Step 10:

Run the virus scan and reboot your machine

Step 11:

After the reboot open the Clean Access Agent, it will scan your machine again and certify that your machine.  Please follow any additional directions that appear.

 

Some information regarding the Clean Access Agent login screen below.

  • Once you have been through all the checks and have successfully been logged on to the network, your machine will be marked CLEAN

  • You will be required to go through these checks upon every reboot.

  • If you are updated and a virus scan is running you will be successfully logged into the network.

  • If you are missing a patch or having problems with your antivirus you will be taken through the prompts for remediation.
