Clean Access login screen
The Clean Access Agent
is required to be installed on all residential computers in order
to have internet access. Every time you turn your computer on, the
Clean Access log in screen will come up. If the Clean
Access screen does not come up you cannot login to Clean
Access and thus cannot log onto the internet.
When you try to login using the icon in the system tray in
the lower right hand corner of your screen the following errors
occurs: Clean Access server is not available on the network.
This happens because of a firewall present on your computer. To
resolve this issue
- Disable your windows
firewall. "How to disable Windows firewall".
- Uninstall third party
firewalls. "How to uninstall third
party firewalls".
- Restart your computer
If the Clean Access login window still does not pop up please call
the Help Desk at ext 7575

How to fix the error, "Network error: SSL certificate rev failed." when trying to log into Clean Access.
If you are getting the error message in the Clean Access Agent, "Network error: SSL certificate rev failed."
These are the steps to take to fix this issue.
- open an IE7 web browser window
2. Click on the Tools menu

- Select the Internet Options item in the Tools menu
- Click on the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Security section
- Make sure that the option, "Check for server certificate revocation" is not checked. If it is, uncheck it and click the Apply button. You will have to Reboot the computer for the change to take effect.
- You can now log into the Clean Access system by right clicking the Clean Access Agent and selecting login.
Enabling/Disabling
Windows Firewall (Windows XP only)
Firewalls help protect your computers against hackers but an improperly
configured or malfunctioning firewall can prevent your computer
from connecting to the network. Presence of a firewall on
residential computers prevents the Clean Access server and the clean
Access client from communicating with each
other resulting in the following error.
Clean Access Server is not available on the network
(Important Note: This error can also be caused
if you are physically not connected to the network. Please check
and make sure you have a good connection to the network before uninstalling
firewalls.)
In order to disable the windows firewall (Windows XP ONLY)
- Go to My Computer
-> Control Panel -> Network connections
- Select pick a control
panel option
- Select Network
Connections
- Right Click Local
Area Connection
- Click Properties
- Click Advanced
Tab
- Click Settings
- Select the OFF or ON
radio button to turn off/on the firewall
Uninstalling third party firewalls
Firewalls are designed
to help protect your computer against hackers and NOT viruses. Firewalls
are not required to be installed by USP policy and in some cases
cause conflicts with Clean Access client. Presence of a third party
firewall prevents the Clean Access server and the Clean Access client
to communicate between each other resulting in the following error: Clean
Access Server is not available on the network
Important
Note: This error can
also be caused if you are physically not connected to the network.
Please check and make sure you have good connection to the network
before uninstalling firewalls.
In order to uninstall
third party firewalls:
- Go to My Computer
->Control Panel -> Add or Remove
Programs
- Find the desired firewall
that needs to be uninstalled.
- For computers running
Norton it is usually: Norton Internet security.
- For computers running
McAfee it is usually: McAfee Internet Security.
- Select the item needed
to be uninstalled.
- Click Remove.
- Click Remove
All.
