Three-year operational/fiscal plan for Information Technology

December 14, 2004

The following plan was developed by USP’s IT Steering and Planning Committee. Careful consideration was given to the goals and objectives of the Information Technology Strategic Plan and the overall vision, mission, and goals of the University.

  1. Keep student access computers on a 3-year life cycle by replacement on the fourth fiscal year.
  2. Upgrade one additional existing classroom per fiscal year with full multimedia capability.
  3. Increase reach of wireless capability at a building per year rate.
  4. Replace classroom multimedia equipment on a 4 to 5 year cycle depending on use.
  5. Replace faculty and staff office computers on a need based, 4-year life cycle.
  6. Establish a 3-year life cycle of server replacement. Approximately one-third inventory beginning FY 06-07.
  7. Assess campus needs on an annual basis through the IT Steering and Planning Committee and revise as needed.
  8. Plan and deliver necessary training programs for faculty and staff as new or upgraded technology is added.
  9. Ensure all newly constructed classrooms are fully multimedia and computer access capable.
