Position Title: Human Resources Advisor / Generalist

Reports To: Executive Director, Human Resources
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Advisor will provide professional level human resources consultation, advice, support and administration to the University under the direction of the Executive Director, HR. Major responsibilities include:
- Staff Relations
- Assist with Faculty Relations
- Recruiting Services, including relocation
- Immigration Services
- Training Services Administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide advice, counsel, and policy interpretation to assigned University leaders, managers, supervisors, faculty and staff on a variety of HR and University topics to assist with developing solutions for faculty and staff workplace and performance issues. Leverages expertise of entire HR department to meet the needs of our customers.
- Act as advocate in assisting faculty and staff in resolving conflicts and/ or workplace issues.
- Coach and develop people management skills in our leaders, manager and supervisors.
- Develop and manages immigration strategy, process and practice University wide.
- Conduct HR investigations as needed.
- Provide recruiting services for faculty, staff and temporary positions including consultation on process, compliance, sourcing and advertising for candidate pools, selection assessments, relocation and offers of employment.
- Represent HR as ex-officio on all faculty/academic search committees as process advisor as represented in the FSI.
- Performs other related duties and/or special projects as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Labor Relations or similar; Masters of Human Resources preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience; higher education experience and SPHR certification preferred.
- HR Expertise in faculty relations in a University setting preferred along with employee relations, recruiting, immigration and basic generalist knowledge in the areas of training, compensation, benefits and performance management.
- Excellent investigation, analysis and investigation report writing skills
- Intermediate level proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office Programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Requires excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, conflict resolution skills, sound judgment, tact, courtesy, and reliability.
- Strong customer focus and ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
