University of the Sciences in Philadelphia invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP). PCP offers degrees ranging from the bachelors through the doctorate in programs of Pharmacy, Pharmacology and Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Located in the University City District of Philadelphia, the College benefits from strong affiliations with tertiary health care facilities and with the pharmaceutical industry.
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, founded in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, is a unique health sciences university of approximately 3000 students. In addition to PCP, the university includes four other colleges, Misher College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Graduate Studies and the Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy. The Dean reports directly to the Provost and is responsible for academic and administrative leadership of the college, and of its diverse programs and faculty. As a member of the university Provost’s Council, the Dean collaborates in leadership of the university. The successful candidate will have the vision and leadership skills to guide a nationally recognized college to new levels of achievement and international recognition, in order to continue to influence and shape pharmacy education and practice at the local, regional and national level and beyond.
The candidate shall hold an earned doctorate, including the PhD, Doctor of Pharmacy or other relevant degree, in a discipline pertinent to the College of Pharmacy, and have a distinguished record of achievement in teaching, research and service. The applicant will have significant administrative experience related to education for the pharmacy professions, a strong record of clinical and/or research, and demonstrable ability to procure external funding. The Dean will represent the college and cultivate relations with internal and external constituencies.
