Assistant Professor of Biology

Position: Assistant Professor of Biology
Department:  Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia invites applications for a new, 10-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 15, 2010. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree.  This learning-centered department requires faculty commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, scholarly activity, student advising and service.  The successful candidate will teach General Biology lecture and lab and is expected to contribute to teaching in his/her area of expertise.  Individuals who can augment the non-clinical aspects of the programs and majors are especially encouraged to apply. 

The department consists of 18 full-time faculty and three staff.  There are 170 undergraduate majors, divided among BS programs in Biology, Microbiology, and Environmental Science. Fifty full- and part-time graduate students are enrolled in the MS programs in Cell Biology and Biotechnology and the PhD program in Cell and Molecular Biology.  The department also contributes to the interdisciplinary Bioinformatics BS and MS programs.
