Position: Manager, Human Resources Staff Relations & Training Services

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager HR Staff Relations & Training Services will provide proactive strategic and tactical HR leadership and consultation to University Staff Department Leaders supporting all levels of the organization in the areas of Staff Relations and University wide Faculty & Staff Training Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Partner with assigned Leaders ( line managers) to support organizational strategy and objectives through HR advice and consulting with an understanding of the operating environment to deliver applicable solutions for employee and labor relations, recruiting, employee development, performance management, and workforce planning. Leverage expertise of entire HR department to deliver on the needs of our customers; for instance in the areas of compensations, benefits, organizational design and recruiting.
• Coach and develop people management skills in our Leaders.
• Develop, propose and deliver Staff HR policies, practices, programs and services. HR Policy Handbook (staff) process owner.
• Partner with Operations Leadership to support Security Union relations as far as; Interpret/administer labor agreement/work rules, manage grievance procedure, analyze and make recommendations relative to contract negotiations, coordinate negotiation activities, process and serve on company negotiating team.
• Develop and propose training services strategy, processes and systems to support the implementation of a University wide Training Services to support Faculty & Staff Development.
• Manages unemployment strategy and practice University wide.
• Participates as a member of the HR Leadership team.
• Collect, analyze report and present employment-related data, such as, turnover, retention rates, position control, training gaps, exit interview results etc… to management for action.
• Act as employee advocate in assisting employees in resolving conflicts and/ or workplace issues.
• Create strategy and plans to build an employee orientation program appropriate by role/positions to assist employees quickly assimilate to USP and gain an understanding of USP culture, mission, values, history, organizational structure, campus, safety, security and general understanding of University departments and operations in partnership with other University departments
• Performs other related duties and/or special projects as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree; Business, HR, Labor Relations; Masters HR preferred
• 5-7 years of Human Resources experience
• PHR preferred
• Excellent, verbal, interpersonal and written skills
• Competency with Microsoft Office Programs
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University employees and the public
• Ability to work as a team
• Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities
• Strong customer focus
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• HR Expertise with employee relations, labor relations and generalist knowledge in the areas of training, recruiting, and performance management.
