Position: Maintenance Mechanic II- Boiler
FLSA STATUS Non-exempt Union
LOCATION USP Campus
HOURS 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week /
7:00am-3:30 pm in the summer season.
DESCRIPTION
• Clean and inspect boiler and auxiliary equipment.
• Inspect and repair boiler fittings such as safety valves,
regulators, automatic control mechanisms, water columns, auxiliary
machines such as pumps, draft fans, and burners.
• Repair or replaces high pressure piping.
• Familiar with control and line voltage systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, pumps, chemical
feeders, etc. on a daily routine.
• Able to repair or replace burners, water feeders, pumps,
valves -automatic or manual, piping, all types of insulation and
other related equipment on boilers to maintain proper steam pressure
and temperature.
• Must be able to switch fuel supply from city gas to oil
and back when Gas Company demands, or in an emergency.
• Take boiler down for inspection, clean fire and waterside
of boiler.
• Regenerate water softener as needed.
• Maintain water treatment, insulation and other assigned
duties as requested.
• Reports to the Manager Mechanical Trades.
REQUIREMENTS
High School or equivalent, trade or technical school. Must have
a valid driver’s license. 3 to 4 years experience “A”
Mechanic. Hold a Boiler “A” license from City of Philadelphia.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be willing to obtain specified
professional licenses and certifications.
