Position: Manager Alumni Relations

Manager of Alumni Relations reports to the Vice President for Corporate and Alumni Relations and initiates planned outreach to key alumni of all colleges through sustained professional and coordinated personal communication, especially face-to-face and by phone. A principal measure of success will be the development of sustained, intensified communications for continuous increase in the identification, referral, and solicitation of new gifts and renewed and upgraded gifts from key alumni, as well as the creation of new ways to engage key alumni in building business development initiatives for the university.

Responsibilities:
Execute planned and sustained contact with key alumni and other USP constituents to schedule and set cultivation visits for senior management, faculty, and directors

Develop, execute, and sustain planned outreach to discover and solicit new prospective donors and to steward existing relations, including all personal follow-up, such as confirming appointments via phone calls, email, and/or written correspondence

Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues to engage regional alumni captains and support their execution of alumni events to engage leadership alumni and alumni more generally very closely in the life of the university

Collaborate effectively with the Admission, Graduate Marketing, Development, Corporate Relations, and Events areas to create new interactions and events that generate substantial interest and targeted attendance; may require some travel and evening or weekend work

Accurately record names, addresses and responses of constituents contacted, and other pertinent information, into the Benefactor database

Create, execute, and assist with alumni relations, stewardship and corporate outreach projects and programs, including events, mailings, surveys, and visits

Bring to USP the best practices in the alumni relations field and continuously enhances USP’s alumni outreach efforts

Maintain supply inventory of university marketing materials, including alumni relations and stewardship brochures and publications, and gifts

Manage special projects as assigned

Requirements:
Bachelors’ degree or minimum 5 years related professional experience, with demonstrable success when measured against best practice in a constituent or alumni relations context

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated tact, courtesy, and respect for constituents and colleagues at all times

Willingness and ability to solicit gifts successfully

Well-organized self-starter with a record of using creativity and flexibility to build exceptional relations by exceeding expectations of constituents

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others cross-matrix within the University.
