Position Title: Foundations Officer

Foundations Officer reports to the Director of Development (Major Gifts) and is responsible for a full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources. The foundations officer is also responsible for developing and maintaining a partnership with the University's Office of Sponsored Research.

Responsibilities:

Proactively seek opportunities to generate new proposals to foundations based on stated and informal guidelines and interests

Write and edit grant proposals, reports, acknowledgments for all corporate and foundation grants, and other donor correspondence

Develop and maintaining a tracking system of all identified grant deadlines, funding status, and report requirements, and submitting reports to grantors on time

Assist with tracking current focus areas and grant activity of major corporations and foundations to assist in matching University needs and aspirations with possible funding sources

Work collaboratively with the development team, faculty and University administrators to collect and track information on University priorities and data to be used in writing successful proposals


Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and minimum five years experience with grant/proposal writing and submission, preferably in a higher education setting; formal training in grant/proposal writing is desirable

Significant experience and demonstrated ability to write favorable grants/proposals; a track record of writing successful local and national foundations and corporations

Demonstrated ability to work and effectively communicate with faculty

Ability to managing an ever growing grants schedule

Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments and multitask with attention to detail


Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills, and effective management, organizational, budgeting, and planning skills

Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
