Position Title: Financial Analyst / Assistant to the VP of Finance, Treasurer

Reports to: Vice President of Finance/Treasurer
Position summary:
The Financial Analyst/Assistant to the VP of Finance is responsible for compiling and analyzing banking, investment, and treasury management data under the direction of the Vice President of Finance/Treasurer and for the operational function of the Offices of the Vice President of Finance and Risk Management. The position also requires administrative and operational support to the Vice President, with responsibility for the day-to-day administration of all aspects of the operations within the Office of the Vice President, including project development and execution of goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating analytical assessments of the University’s Finance, Treasury, and business areas, including developing graphical analyses at the direction of the VPF;
- Administrative oversight of treasury management functions, including preparing required documents to open/close investment accounts and transferring funds into/within the University’s endowment, as recommended by the Finance and Audit Committees and approved by the Board of Trustees;
- Assist the VPF and the Controller’s Office staff with the University’s annual external audit, including compiling SAS 70 audits and audited financials from the University’s investment managers;
- Work collaboratively with the President’s Office in submitting reports and other documents from the Office of the VPF/Treasurer and Controller’s and Budget Offices to the President’s Office and the University’s Board of Trustees, including quarterly reports from Investment Advisors and Managers,’ Quarterly Reports, and reports from internal and external auditors and other University administrators;
- Serve as Secretary of the Investment Sub-committee, the Audit Committee, and the Finance Committee of the University’s Board of Trustees, including producing and distributing the Minutes from the Committee Meetings;
- Responsible for assisting in day-to-day administration of the University’s insurance program, including managing Certificates of Insurance and assisting the Director in processing renewal applications and implementing risk management policies and procedures;
- Utilize a working knowledge and understanding of higher ed and campus administrative and operational issues in decision making and in assisting the Vice President of Finance / Treasurer;
- Primary administrative and operational liaison between the Office of VPF and other campus departments and outside agencies, including the University’s Investment Advisors;
- Annually update the University’s Official Statement, as required under Bond Issuance;
- Responsible for overseeing the daily administration of the Finance Department budget(s);
- Prepare reports, research information, and compose correspondence independently, and as directed by the VPF;
- Maintain the Finance Department pages on the campus webpage and portal;
- Complete other duties and special projects within the Office of the VPF/Treasurer, as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related discipline and a minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in the areas of higher ed business and finance;
- Demonstrate ability to engage in critical thought process and decision-making;
- Sound judgment, along with strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving abilities;
- Excellent writing, communication, and inter-personal skills;
- Ability to work with all levels of university staff and outside agents;
- Ability to manage subordinate staff and to work independently;
- Proficient in computer software and financial applications, including MS Excel and Outlook.
