The College of Health Sciences at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. The candidate for this position must possess pediatric expertise for this 12-month, full-time, non tenure-track position.

USP is a unique health sciences university, founded in 1821 as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the first college of pharmacy in North America. The University is comprised of four colleges, with majors in the health professions and the natural sciences, including Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Public Health and Health Policy. Located on a growing campus in Philadelphia's University City, USP provides excellent opportunities for collaboration with the many health professional programs and teaching hospitals in and around Philadelphia.

The Department of Physical Therapy at USP offers a six year entry level program leading to the DPT, and a web-based Post Professional DPT for alumni of our earlier MPT program. Our Pro Bono Clinic, associated with a large local health center, was established in 2002 as part of the Department’s service learning agenda. The clinic provides training opportunities for students, research opportunities for the faculty and service to our community.

USP places a high value on having an effective balance between the teaching, research and service responsibilities of the faculty. In addition to teaching within his/her area of expertise and engaging in scholarly activity, providing service to the community and the University is expected.

The successful candidate will have a research-based doctorate in an area relevant to the health sciences or an advanced masters degree with clinical specialization; experience in an academic environment; a record of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity; and a history of service to the profession. Clinical experience in pediatrics is preferred. The candidate must have, or be eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Pennsylvania.
