Experience Counts in Health Care
You probably think all health professionals are people-focused.
And you’re right—effective health care professionals
help others. Yet, some professionals give “hands-on”
care a new meaning through the delivery of vital health care services
that improve the lives of others.
Extensive hands-on clinical training with patients is at the heart
of the College of Health Sciences at USP. You’ll work with
patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, rehabilitation
centers, nursing homes, schools, private homes, and community-based
organizations.
Practical experience rewards our students in more ways than one.
They gain valuable experience that employers value and are able
to network with professionals in their field. In addition, USP students
in some programs have a notably high pass rate on competitive licensing
and certification exams.
You can choose from five specialized programs:
- Fitness and Health Managment: Combine a deep foundation in the sciences with fieldwork and internships to excel in a career in health, exercise or recreation.
- Health Sciences: Acquire a foundation in the natural and social sciences with concentrated studies in a specialized area. Students can create an individualized curriculum focused in an area of health science that integrates service learning.
- Medical Technology: Learn
how to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease, as well as how to
run clinical trials and develop drugs.
- Occupational Therapy: Learn how
to help disabled clients develop the functional capacity to live
independently, care for personal needs, and participate in daily
activities.
- Physical Therapy: Learn how to treat patients
in a rehabilitation setting following illness, injury, or surgery.
- Physician Assistant Studies:
Learn how to diagnose and treat illnesses, assist doctors in major
surgeries and with post-operative care, and perform high-tech
specialty procedures.
