Community Outreach at
USP
Community - Community can
be used a number of ways to apply to almost any group of individuals.
It is often used to describe a geographic group whose members engage
in some face-to-face interaction. The term community can also be
used in a more meaningful sense to emphasize the common bonds and
beliefs that hold people together
The University enjoys it's role as an engaged member
of the West Philadelphia Community.
Through the development of strong community partnerships, we are
able to grow with and within our community, providing a broad range
of opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community residents
in an effort to promote civic involvement.
The Center for Community Connections, located in the Student Affairs
complex in Whitecar Hall, serves as a clearinghouse of information
regarding service/outreach opportunities and community contacts.
The Community Outreach Work-Study positions are also coordinated
through this office. The Center also provides support to faculty
with Service Learning resources including mini grants for the development
of Service Learning courses.
For further information, contact Lizz Gable, Director, by visiting
Whitecar 120, by emailing e.gable@usip.edu
