- Visiting Assistant Professor: nothing available at this
time.
- Laboratory Instructor: nothing available at this time.
- Adjunct Faculty (part-time): The Department utilizes
Adjunct Faculty to teach a variety of classes at both the undergraduate
and graduate levels, especially the laboratory components
of General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, as well
as upper division Chemistry courses, such as Analytical Chemistry
and Biochemistry.
Note: In Summer 2008, it is
anticipated that one or two Adjunct Faculty positions will be available
for faculty with the expertise and experience to teach a junior-level,
two-semester course sequence covering material from Biochemistry,
Molecular Biology and Molecular Genetics. Either one appropriately
qualified faculty member will teach both courses offered over
the two, sequential 6-week summer sessions (Summer I and II), or one faculty
member will teach the first-semester of the course in Summer I and a second
faculty member will teach the second semester of the course in Summer II.
If you have the appropriate expertise and are available this coming Summer,
please contact the Department Chair as indicated below.
Also of interest are highly qualified individuals that can teach
courses in specialized areas of Chemistry, such as Medicinal
Chemistry and Natural Products Chemistry, as well as
aspects of Industrial Chemistry.
Part-time Adjunct Faculty positions typically become available
shortly before the beginning of the Fall and/or Spring
semesters, as well as the two Summer sessions (Summer I
and II).
If you are interested in an Adjunct Faculty position, please send
(1) a copy of your CV, (2) an indication of which courses listed
on our website you would be qualified and interested in teaching,
(3) how many courses (or contact hours) a semeseter you would
be interested in teaching, (4) your availability (semesters, days
of the week and times), and (5) at least two references that can
speak towards your instructional ability, to the address indicated
below. CV's are normally kept on file for a period of two years,
after which you should plan to submit new information if still
interested in a position.

It is anticipated that openings for Postdoctoral
positions in the area of Computational Chemistry will be available
on a regular basis. Appointments are normally made for one year, with
an option to renew expected, pending funding.

Students are employed by many of the departments and offices on
campus, either directly, or under the auspices of Federal or Pennsylvania
Work-Study programs, giving students the opportunity to earn money
for expenses while at the same time gaining valuable experience. The
Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry employs undergraduates
to assist faculty and graduate students in the chemistry laboratories,
to prepare chemicals needed for the laboratories, to help grade laboratory
notebooks, to help maintain and upgrade the Departmental computers,
and to assist the Department Administrative Coordinator. Students
interested in any of these positions should contact the Departmental
Administrative Coordinator, Vanessa
Jones by e-mail or phone (215-596-8839), or stop by the Department
