Prerequisites for Admission
Admission to the Graduate Programs in Chemistry, Biochemistry
or Pharmacognosy, is based upon the following criteria:
- Undergraduate academic record (esp. in biology, biochemistry,
chemistry, physics and mathematics). Applicants must have earned
at least a baccalaureate degree prior to entering the Graduate
Program, unless they are in the combination BS/MS Program offered
by USP.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE), general test scores and scores
earned on the GRE test in either chemistry, or biochemistry.
- Letters of recommendation from former teachers or supervisors.
- TOEFL and TSE (Test of Spoken English) scores are required of
all international students whose native tongue is not English,
since this program assumes that students are fluent in both spoken
and written English.
- A personal interview, when possible.
Specific course requirements, expected to have been taken at the
undergraduate level by students applying to the Graduate Program
in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacognosy, are indicated below.
Students that have not had these courses as part of their undergraduate
experience may still be admitted to the Program, but may be asked
to take appropriate undergraduate courses in addition to the graduate
courses normally required.
