The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry
provides excellent training for its Chemistry, Biochemistry, and
Pharmaceutical Chemistry majors, preparing them for graduate and
professional schools, as well as for their ultimate careers. A broad
variety of courses are available at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels, providing our majors with a strong background in the chemistry
and biochemistry needed for their areas of interest.
The courses offered by the Department have been broken down here into:
However, it should be noted that "Year" is somewhat a
misnomer since, for example, some "Second Year" courses are
taken in "Third Year", some "Third Year" courses are
taken in "Fourth Year", and vice versa.
Graduate courses (and a limited number of undergraduate courses) are used
to satisfy curricula requirements in the graduate degree programs (MS and PhD)
in Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacognosy. Graduate
courses may also be used to meet Chemistry Elective requirements at the
undergraduate level, with the permission of the instructor and their
Department Advisor.
(See the appropriate Curricula for the specific
courses required for each curriculum).
A Complete Course Listing, with
all courses in numerical order is also available.
