The mission of the Career Services Department is to facilitate the process of career planning and placement assistance for the students and alumni of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP). Career Services will also serve to promote a greater awareness within the University community about the world of work and the nature of career development through one’s life. Additionally, the department is committed to strengthening connections between students, faculty, alumni, employers, and graduate schools.

Located in the 4140 Building, The CSD provides a wide variety of services to students to help them in determining their their career paths and in attaining their career goals. We provide counseling, assessment, workshops and a variety of creative programs - from seminars for first year students just beginning to think about their professional futures to interview and recruitment events for graduating students who are ready to begin their careers.

Patricia N.S. Peterson has served as the Director of Career Services since 2000. Prior to joining USP, she was the Director of Career Development for Temple University and Director of Career Services for the College of New Jersey, formerly Trenton State College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in English, Liberal Arts and a Masters in Education with a concentration in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from Trenton State College. She also holds the designation of a Certified Public Manager from the School of Labor & Industrial Relations from Rutgers, The State University in New Jersey. She is a member of the Delaware Valley Career Planners, The National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE), The Eastern Association of Colleges & Employers (EACE), the Mid-Atlantic Career Counselors Association (MAACA) of which she serves on the board and the National Career Development Association. Additionally, Ms. Peterson is an adjunct instructor teaching a graduate course in Career & Vocational Counseling and has served on the Literature Review Board of the Journal of Career Placement.

Kimberly Bryant is the newest addition to the Career Services Staff. She hails from Brimingham,Alabama. Prior to joining USP, she was a Human Tissue and Organ Procurement Specialist for the National Disease Research Interchange and before that a Case Manager for the Lighthouse, Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Miles College and a Masters in Biology from St.Joseph's University.

Digshema James (Dee) has been an Administrative Assistant for Career Services since 2004. Prior to that Dee was an Assistant at USP in the Office of Student Affairs. Currently, Dee is a part-time student working towards her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
