Our faculty work
together with students at all levels exploring aspects
of living organisms ranging from the molecular to
the ecosystem.
We emphasize the
process of science as well as the content of science
in our teaching. We offer diverse courses in areas
including anatomy, animal biology, biotechnology,
cell biology, ecology, environmental science, genetics,
immunology, microbiology, pharmacognosy, physiology,
plant biology and science teaching.
The Department's study
of biology includes opportunities for laboratory and
field exploration. Our location in Philadelphia puts
us in proximity to several major universities and
many life science, biotechnology and pharmaceutical
corporations enhancing opportunities for collaboration
and internships.
Many of the Department's
full-time faculty are actively involved in research,
engaging all interested undergraduate students.
