Course description

Introductory Biology II (BS131) is designed to develop in students an understanding of biology as a science through examination of the scientific method in studying  the evolution, diversity, anatomy and physiology of microorganisms, plants, and animals. This course is also designed to give students opportunities to apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate the basic knowledge presented in this course and to develop basic computer skills through use of the internet and various computer programs.

1. Case studies are designed to provide an opportunity for you to
     explore lecture material at higher cognitive levels. These will be
      used in the development of quiz and exam questions.

Grading

Lecture: Four examinations will be given, 100 ponts each, based on reading assignments, case studies, and lectures, for a total of 400 points. Multiple choice, short answer, essay and other types of questions may be utilized. All exams are of equal weight. There will be one case study project and three quizzes based upon additional case studies, reading assignments, and lecture material for a total of 100 points.

Laboratory: The lab grade will be based upon a variety of evaluations including, but not limited to quizzes, lab reports and practical examinations.

Lecture grade      = 75% of final grade.
Laboratory grade = 25% of final grade
