Mission
The mission of the Department of Bioinformatics and Computer Science is three-fold:
Education
- Provide cutting-edge education in bioinformatics and computer science.
- Offer students access to state-of-the-art computer technology
- Combine theoretical knowledge and advanced skills in major area of study.
- Provide individualized academic advising and career counseling.
- Support General Education in The Bioinformatics and Computer Science curriculum.
Research
- Conduct basic and applied research in bioinformatics, computer science, genomics, proteomics, computational biology, information technology and related areas.
- Provide students with research opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Offer state-of-the-art computational environment for research activities.
- Offer modern biotechnology laboratory environment for bioinformatics research.
- Collaborate with other faculty and scientists within and outside of the university on multidisciplinary projects in bioinformatics and computer science.
Service
- Provide service to the university, colleges, community and alumni.
- Provide service to professional organizations.
- Offer technology-related assistant to university community.
