Named to 2006 CACC All-Conference Team...Earned CACC Cross Country Rookie of the Week honors twice in 2006

2006 Season

Named to CACC All-Conference Team with an eighth place finish at the CACC Championships at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware with a time of 28:54.38...Finshed seventh at the Cabrini Invitational with a time of 28:12.45...Placed 14th overall at the Goldey Beacom Invitational at Carousel Park with a time of 28:30.55...Was 12th at the Belmont Classic with a time of 27:44.10...became the first USP runner to run a sub 28-minute 8 K race at Belmont Plateau in over 10 years with a 27:56.35 and a fourth place finish at the Philadelphia Metro Championship, establishing a then school-record for Belmont's new 8K course (one that would be broken one week later by teammate Nick Willey)... Was 19th at the Maroon and Gold Invitational at Kutztown University with a time of 28:43...Placed eighth in his first collegiate race, finishing the 8,000-meter course at Delaware Valley College in 28:58.80

Prior to USP

A 2006 graduated of Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield...A four year runner for the Lions, earning First Team All-Catholic honors and Second Team All-Delco as a senior.

Personal

One of three children of Gene and Cathy Willard...brother Gene was a four year starter on the USP men's basketball team, scoring over 1,600 points for the Devils...His favorite movie is Varsity blues and his favorite T.V. show is Entourage... Matt says his brother Gene is the most influential person in his life...his career ambition is to become a pharmacist.
