Aifuwa Becomes a Five-Time CACC Runner of the Week Recipient

Philadelphia (October 16, 2006) – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has named a Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week seven times so far during the 2006 season.  Earlier today the conference office again named University of the Sciences in Philadelphia’s Joy Aifuwa (Edison High School/Edison, NJ) their women’s cross country Runner of the Week. 

This marks the fifth time this season that Aifuwa has earned the honor.  Joy earned Runner of the Week honors in the opening week of the season on September 5^th and four straight times starting September 25^th through this week’s honors for a total of five awards.  The Devils have competed in a total of six meets this season.

     The junior harrier took third place overall at Saturday’s Cabrini Invitational, completing the 5,000-meter course in 20:09.24  Aifuwa’s time was her best 5K performance of the 2006 season 

      Aifuwa's performance helped lead the Devils to a third place finish.   The Devils finished the race with 66 points, narrowly missing out on second place to Gwynedd Mercy College who had 65 points. Ursinus College won the meet with a score of 27 points.

      The former Edison High School athlete is in her third season of competition for the Devils. In 2005, she earned Runner of the Week honors five times and finished 3^rd at the 2005 CACC Championships earning All Conference honors for the second consecutive year. Since the 2004 season, Aifuwa has earned CACC Runner of the Week honors 13 times.

      Next up for the Devils will be the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships, hosted by Goldey Beacom College at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday, October 21, 2006.
