Aifuwa Named CACC Runner of the Week
University of the Sciences cross country runner Joy Aifuwa (Edison
High School/Edison, NJ) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) Runner of the Week for the week ending September 3, 2006.
Competing in less than ideal conditions (heavy rain and wind), Aifuwa took second place overall at the Fourth Annual Delaware Valley College Invitational, leading the Devils to an eighth place finish out of 15 complete teams.
Aifuwa, a junior pharmacy major, completed the 6,000 meter course in 26:12.79, almost a full minute faster than her 2005 time but 65 seconds behind West Chester University’s Kristie Kershaw.
The former Edison High School athlete is in her third season of competition for the Devils. In 2005, she earned Runner of the Week honors five times and finished 3rd at the 2005 CACC Championships earning All Conference honors for the second consecutive year.
Next up for the Devils will be the Maroon and Gold Invitational, hosted by Kutztown University on Saturday, September 9, 2006.
