Women’s
Cross Country Team Named as Division II All-Academic Team
Earns
Honor for Fourth Consecutive Year
PHILADELPHIA, PA- The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s cross country team has been selected by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a Division II All-Academic Team for the 2006 season.
To qualify for this honor a team must have a cumulative team grade point average through the semester of competition of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Athletes must have competed in at least 50% of their teams’ cross country competitions and appear on the NCAA eligibility form. The coach must also be a member of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
The 2006 selection
marks the fourth consecutive year that the USP women’s cross country team has
earned Division II All-Academic Team honors. The eligible members of the USP
women’s cross country team recorded a team cumulative GPA of 3.485 for the Fall
2006 semester.
The women’s team was one of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)
teams selected and one of 91 teams nationally amongst the 274 institutions that
sponsor women’s cross country on the Division II level to earn this honor. The
Devils were also one of 16 teams from the East Region to earn this honor and
had the second highest team g.p.a. amongst those 16 (West Chester University
had a 3.602 team g.p.a.). USP’s team g.p.a. of 3.485 ranks 30th amongst the
91 schools earning this honor.
In 2006, the USP women’s cross country team placed fourth at the CACC championships and competed at the NCAA East Regional for the fourth consecutive year, finishing 21st amongst the 32 schools competing. During the regular season the Devils placed third in three of their six regular season meets and finished no lower than eighth place in all of their regular season contests during the year.
