Willey named CACC Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Philadelphia (October 3, 2005) - University of the Sciences freshman cross country runner Nick Willey (Shenendehowa High School/Clifton Park, NY) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 2, 2005.

This marks the second time Willey has earned Rookie of the Week honors this season, earning the honors during the week of September 11, 2005.

Willey was the top USP finisher at Saturday’s Belmont Classic in Philadelphia, completing the 8,000-meter course in 29:22.29. His time was good enough for 17th place amongst 126 finishers.     Willey’s performance helped lead the Devils to an eighth place finish at the meet.

     The former Shenendehowa High School athlete is in his first season of competition for the Devils.

     The Devils next race will be the Goldey Beacom Invitational held at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware on October 8, 2005.
