Willey Named CACC Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Philadelphia (September 12, 2005) - University of the Sciences freshman cross country runner Nick Willey (Shenendehowa High School/Clifton Park, NY) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 11, 2005.
Willey was the top USP finisher in a highly competitive field featuring the defending NCAA East Region champion Lock Haven University along with Shippensburg University (3rd at regionals) and Kutztown University (9th at regionals).
Nick completed the 8,000-meter course in 29:22, a personal best and 35 seconds faster than he raced last week at Delaware Valley College. His time was good enough for 39th place in the highly competitive field.
The former Shenendehowa High School athlete is in his first season of competition for the Devils.
The Devils are off next week and will return to the friendly confines of Belmont Plateau on September 24, 2005 when they compete in the Philadelphia Metro Small College Championship.
