Aifuwa Named CACC Runner of the Week
University of the Sciences cross country runner Joy Aifuwa (Edison High School/Edison, NJ) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Runner of the Week for the week ending September 4, 2005.
Aifuwa successfully defended her title at the Third Annual Delaware Valley College Cross Country Invitational, leading the Devils to a third place finish.
Aifuwa, a sophomore pharmacy major, completed the 6,000 meter course in 27:15. Joy lost the lead twice after being misdirected on the course but recovered each time to retake the lead, eventually pulling away to win by nine seconds.
The former Edison High School athlete is in her second season of competition for the Devils. As a freshman she earned Runner of the Weeks honors twice and finished 2nd at the 2004 CACC Championships earning All Conference and Newcomer of the Year honors.
Next up for the Devils will be the Maroon and Gold Invitational, hosted by Kutztown University on Saturday, September 10, 2004.
