Bedway Named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area
Women's Tennis Performer of the Year
PHILADELPHIA – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia junior Amanda Bedway (Blue Mountain High School/Orwigsburg, Pa.) has been named the 2006-07 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Tennis Performer of the Year.
In addition, Bedway is one of six student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Tennis Team. The team was voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Bedway,
who also earned a spot on the Academic All-Area team last year, plays No. 1
singles and No. 1
doubles for the Devils. She is 8-6 this season in singles, with a career mark
of 25-10; in doubles, she is 9-5
this season and 25-8 for her career. She led USP to a berth in the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference
(CACC) playoffs for the second consecutive year; last year, the Devils won the
CACC for the first time and
advanced to the NCAA regional championships. Bedway
has been on the Dean’s List every semester and is a member of the Alpha Lambda
Delta Honor Society.
A two-time CACC Fall Academic Team selection, Bedway sports a 3.85 grade point average while pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
Joining Bedway on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Tennis Team are Dina DiTaranto and Carolyn Wilson of Cabrini College; Waverly Lutz and Sara Sargent of Swarthmore College and Julia Koulbitskaya from the University of Pennsylvania.
