Chesnavich Named to CACC Women’s Basketball Honor Roll
New Haven- Conn. (12/10/07) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Honor Roll for her performance for the week ending December 9, 2007.
In the Devils only game last week, Chesnavich, a 6’2” sophomore, scored a career-high 29 points as USP defeated Post University 84-73 for their first conference win of the season.
Chesnavich connected on 13 of 15 shots from the field (86.7%) while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Erin also pulled down nine rebounds, had two assists and blocked one shot. Chesnavich missed just one shot from the field in the first half (6-7) and one in the second half (7-8). Erin scored 12 of her 14 second half points during the Devils 30-9 run over a ten minute stretch in the second half, turning a five-point deficit into a 16 point USP lead.
The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her second season of play for the Devils. Erin currently leads the Devils in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game. She is also USP’s leading free throw shooter, connecting on 86.4% of her shots (19-22) from the charity stripe and leading shot blocker with nine. Chesnavich currently ranks third in the CACC in field goal percentage (58.7%)
Chesnavich is majoring in biology at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
