Weiss Named to CACC Women’s Basketball Honor Roll

New Haven- Conn. (1/28/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s basketball player Allison Weiss (Springfield High School/Springfield, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Honor Roll for her performance for the week ending January 27, 2008.

In the Devils two games last week, Weiss, a 6’2” junior, averaged 16.5 points; 11.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game as the Devils dropped conference games to both CACC division leaders.

Against CACC South leader Holy Family on Wednesday, Weiss led the Devils with 15 points while pulling down 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. The junior forward also dished out a team high five assists.

In USP’s other game this week, against CACC North leader Dominican College, Weiss scored 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and a 6-for-7 effort from the free throw line. Allison also recorded her third consecutive double-double and ninth of the season, pulling down a game high 12 rebounds. Weiss also led the Devils with six assists.

For the week, Weiss scored 33 points and pulled down 22 rebounds while shooting 50% (11-22) from the field and 91.7% (11-12) from the free throw line.

The former Springfield High School athlete is in her third season of play for the Devils. Allison currently leads the Devils in rebounding, averaging 9.4 per game. She is also USP’s leading free throw shooter, connecting on 82.6% of her shots (76-92) from the charity stripe and second leading scorer, averaging 11.6 points per game. Weiss currently ranks third in the CACC in field goal percentage (52.1%), third in assists (3.94), third in free throw percentage (82.6%), and fifth in rebounding (9.4)

Weiss is majoring in physical therapy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
